Ronald McDonald House Toronto is pleased to announce that Karen Kinnear has been appointed Board Chair, beginning a two-year term. Karen brings extensive leadership experience from her role as Vice-President of Clinical Operations and Patient and Family Experience at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), as well as a deep commitment to advancing family-centred care. As a long-standing Board Member, she has witnessed the extraordinary impact of the House on families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.

“For more than 44 years, Ronald McDonald House Toronto has been a cornerstone of paediatric family support,” Karen notes. “I am honoured to step into the role of Board Chair and look forward to working collaboratively to advance this extraordinary mission. Our shared passion and collective expertise are powerful strengths as we continue to support families when they need it most.”

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Angela Clayton, President and CEO at Infrastructure Ontario, who served as Interim Board Chair over the past several months. Angela provided steady, thoughtful leadership during a period of meaningful work and transition for the organization, including the opening of the new Ronald McDonald House Family Room at SickKids. We are deeply grateful that Angela will continue to serve as Vice-Chair of the Board, offering her insight, commitment, and strategic expertise.

“Ronald McDonald House Toronto is a truly magical place,” adds Angela. “It’s a home that offers comfort, dignity, and stability to families during unimaginably difficult times. It has been an honour to serve as Interim Chair, and I look forward to continuing to support this remarkable mission as Vice-Chair.”

“We are incredibly fortunate to have leaders like Karen and Angela guiding our Board,” says Louise Smith, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Toronto. “Their expertise, compassion, and belief in our mission strengthen everything we do. I am deeply grateful for their partnership as we work together to ensure families always have a home filled with care, comfort, and community when they need it most.”

We look forward to this next chapter under Karen’s leadership and with Angela’s continued partnership.
