In last week's Coffee Talk program families gathered to enjoy a special donation of books featuring …stories and authors from Nova Scotia, along with east coast treats like chocolate-covered potato chips and oven-baked cheese crisps.
Families were able to sit together, enjoy a snack, and listen to stories shared by our wonderful Coffee Talk volunteers. This was especially meaningful for families from the east coast, who had the chance to connect, share memories of home, and enjoy a familiar taste of comfort.
In Canada, 2 out of 3 families live outside a city with a specialty children’s hospital and must travel for medical treatment when their child becomes ill. Moments like our Coffee Talk program help families feel a sense of community while they’re far from home.
As we enter the giving season, your generosity helps create opportunities for connection and comfort for families staying with us. click the link in bio to learn more.

Reflecting on the meaningful learning that happens at the Ronald McDonald House Toronto School.
…Recently, students visited the local fire station to explore fire safety, took part in a virtual field trip with Chamelea Science to learn about dinosaurs through hands-on experiments, and wrapped up the day with our Fall Fair, sharing their pumpkin projects and classic games from the 1800s.
As we enter the giving season, your gift helps make moments like these possible for seriously ill children and their siblings.

On #WorldKindnessDay, we’re celebrating the small moments that make a big difference at Ronald McDonald …House Toronto.
Kindness shows up here in so many ways — in a warm conversation after a long day at the hospital, in volunteers greeting families with a smile, and in staff, donors, and partners who help create a place that feels welcoming and comforting for those far from home.
Ronald McDonald House Toronto Families show kindness to one another in ways that reflect the heart of community: sharing experiences, checking in on a neighbour, or offering a moment of comfort when it’s needed most.
These everyday gestures help create an environment where families can focus on what truly matters — staying together while their seriously ill child receives care.

On #RemembranceDay, we pause to honour the brave individuals who served — and continue to serve — to …protect our freedom, peace, and the futures of children everywhere.
This morning, students at the Ronald McDonald House Toronto School led a special ceremony for their families and our House community, sharing their reflections on what remembrance means through their learning and creativity.
Our youngest learners read The Peace Book by Todd Parr, offering heartfelt thoughts on what peace looks like in their world. Primary students explored the role of UN Peacekeepers and even created their own imaginative “Peacekeeper Cookie” recipes. Older students learned about the contributions of Indigenous Veterans, including Charles “Checkers” Tompkins — a WWII Code Talker — and wrote journal entries inspired by his remarkable service.
Together, they reminded us why remembrance matters: to honour courage, to learn from the past, and to strive for a more peaceful future for every family — including those staying with us today.

From our pumpkin carving activity and …our “Pumpkin Walk” that welcomed families at the front entrance, to the magical costumes that filled the Ronald McDonald House Toronto School — dinosaurs, dragons, princesses, movie stars, sorcerers, video game heroes, and even the cast of KPop Demon Hunters!
Next was our Halloween Party, where families trick-or-treated through the House, decorated cookies, and stocked up on plenty of candy and goodies! We’re wrapping up the week tomorrow with our Glow-in-the-Dark Fall Dance!
Moments like these remind us how special it is to bring families together —far from home — to create memories that feel just like Halloween should: full of fun, imagination, and connection. 🧡🕸️
